Engine Suddenly Shuts OFF!!!!
Engine Suddenly Shuts OFF!!!!
First post here even though I have been a member for a little while. Yesterday morning, I turned into the parking lot at work and suddenly my 2000 f150 was impossible to turn. I looked down to discover no rpm's and gauges still lit. It was raining all the way to work so I hoped something merely got wet and that was the end of it. BTW the truck started right back up with no problems. Then, this morning I was turning to get onto the interstate and it happened again. Same thing happened, but no rain this morning and once again it started right back up and I got on the interstate and drove another 10 miles problem free. Both time this happened I was turning and at a very low rate of speed (nearly stopped). Can someone please help me with this problem. Maybe someone else has had the same problem and fixed it. Either way, any help will be appreciated as I do not want this to happen going 70 mph down the interstate because I will lose steering and that wouldnt be fun. Thanks for your help in advance.

I'm not sure about the F150's but my brother-in-law had the same problem with his V6 Explorer and it ended being the fuel pump relay. At least that's what he was told by his mechanic. My father-in-law F250 also had a similar problem and it was the relay. Hopefully this will lead you in the right direction.
Engine shuts down

You do not share what motor you have. You don't share your mileage. I don't if it really matters, but interesting to know.
You do not state whether the truck is throwing a code or the check engine light comes on.
I have a 2000 5.4L Lariat, and have not had this problem. I have 162,300 miles on my truck.
My first thought is you have a clog in the fuel filter that shuts down the flow of fuel. It temprarily clears after the flow shuts down. I would begin by replacing that inexpensive item.

Because both time occured on a turn, I would look for something that is causing a short by grounding the electrical system. A bare wire that moves enough on a turn to touch a metal part. Something like that. Check especially battery cables.
Is it missing at all? I'm thinking something in the fuel system, when did you change your filter last? As already said the relay is a good possibility - bare wire as well..The fuse box under the hood gets corroded to - on my 98 that is where the relay fuse is and it's possible that it's losing it's connection, just something to check.
just spoke with my mechanic and family friend over the phone and he said it sounded like the idle actuator control. the engine isnt missing any at all, it runs smooth as ever. its just at low speed near stopped.
