Ethanol F150 ?

Last I read on it, the government was paying a subsidy on it. That it actually cost around $2.85 or something like that per gallon to manufacture. That may have changed since I read it.

Howdy - New to the site but the 2006 models are the flex fuel capable. They have the "FF" in the VIN.

FFV isn't new to Ford. I had an '00 Ranger with a 3.0 V6 FFV. I never ran ethenol though.

Unhappy FFV vs Standard 5.4

Looking to buy an 07 FX2 screw with the Flex Fuel engine because thats all thats available for My region (pac nw). Does any body know what the actual difference is between the two??. I ask the dealer and they couldnt come up with any answers but " its the same there's no difference". Theres got to be some kind of difference, can anybody help??

My understanding is the engine has sensors that detect the E85 and change the the spark timing to adjust for the flex fuel. here's an article on it from Wiki:

Note they don't seem to know if there is long term effects from burning E85. Partly because standard fuel also serves as a lube. A friend told me he get much less MPG when burning E85.

Course I'm just parroting here, other's might disagree
