Replaced COP. 2wks later same problem

hey guys....i pressure washed my motor before seeing this forum, damit. i went to autozone and they check the codes because my engine light was on. he told me i had about 10 codes but the last one was a missfire on #8. so i put a COP on #8 and the truck never ran better, i even got rid of some radio noise. well that was 2 weeks ago and on lunch today i got the missfire under load and poor idle. my question is , what is the easy way to find which COP needs replacing, the engine light is not on. i drive a 2000 f150 w/5.4 4x4

Get it checked for codes anyways, there may be a continous memory code stored or a misfire code pending. If you've got access to a scan tool that'll show mode 6 info, you can see which cylinders have the highest misfire count and go from there.

You can always take the long way home. I have found that it takes about 15-20 minutes of moving and varing the load to produce a Check Engine light.

If you have rough idle you can pull one COP connector, see if the engine idle remains the same or changes and then re-connect the COP connector. Do this for each COP until you find that pulling the COP connector does not affect the way the engine is running. (That would indicate the problem COP) This may not work depending on what your poor idle problem is.

If you truly have a "Missfire" the cel will flash and not always stay on after.

My money would go to COP#4 because it is the one that coolant leaks on.

Good luck-
