Problems and i dont know what

Well heres my problem guys, bout a week ago i had a problem w my truck not startin. I thought it might be the starter bc it was makin that noise. Took it off and got it tested, nope thats not it its all good. Turned the flywheel and it cranked right up. My truck worked for bout a week or so. Now when i turn the key it seems like theres power loss somewhere. The domelight fades in and out. The beepin it does gets softer and louder. Sometimes when i try to turn the key i get a knocking sound from right behing the fuse box. I thought there might be a problem there but i dont know. I tested the cables runnin from the battery to the starter and its gettin the power. So i dont know if its a fuse or wire behind the fuse panel, fuse in the engine compartment somewhere or what. Whatever tips yall got would be great.

You might have a weak battery. Try hooking up somebody else's truck to yours with jumper cables, and see if it fixes your problems.

If it turns out that your battery is weak, you might have a bad alternator. To test it, crank the truck and turn on the headlights. Then shut the truck off. If the lights get dimmer when you shut the truck off, the the alternator is probably fine. (this test is best done at night)

Let us know what you find out.

You need to test the large wire on your starter when you crank it; if the voltage drops more at the starter then at the battery you have a bad cable or connection

It might be your starter. I don't know how you got it tested, but starters are tricky! I've gotten 3 bad ones from the store! However, I still think it might be a weak battery. Try what I said about using jumper cables, also, clean your battery terminals and clamps. That could cause problems that resemble a bad battery. But if your battery is good, then it's most likely your starter.

If the interior lights dim down etc. there is a power problem from one of the following areas.
1. Battery, A bad cell, Low electrolye etc. Do an inter cell voltage measurement to pick up a bad cell unless an inter cell connector is broken.
2. Cable connections.
3. Excessive starter draw.
4. Battery not being recharged or there is a drain when setting.
The knocking you hear is the starter relay pulling up, the load reducing the voltage, relay dropping out, then the cycle begins all over again.
Go over all areas as maintainance items to eliminate them as sources of this problem or other problems in the future.

I think the easiest and quickest thing to do, would be to hook your truck to somebody else's via jumper cables. That would rule out all other speculations about battery voltage, amperage draws, and corroded battery terminals. You could even hook the jumper cables directly to the starter, to rule out a bad battery cable. Then you could move on to the harder ideas.
