Low Idle RPM'S

I am not receiving full alternator output because my 05 F-150 is idleing below 850 RPM'S. I have a CAI and exhaust, although I am not sure that those mods have anything to do with it.

What is the fix. The dealership says this is normal, but I doubt it.

It is a great dealer ship to. They replaced my whole front brake assembly for no charge

Anyone have a quick fix?

Please give some more information. What do you mean, "not recieving full output"? What exactly is the dealer claiming as normal?

Dealship is saying that a low idle RPM is normal? He might be refering to normal for a CAI and Exhaust.

By not receiving full output I mean that when i am sitting at a stop light and the lights are on, they dim alot, and I can see the lights behind the gauges flickering (dimming quite often)

Since it's still under warranty, I wouldn't touch it. Take it to the dealership and tell them you want it fixed. If they give you the run around, then contact the main Ford office and give them a bad review. I have a 97 F-150 and the lights don't flicker, so I would have to say that this is not normal. Just take it back.

About 750-800 rpm at hot idle in park is normal. Your alternator might be on the way out; did they do a charging system test?

I do not believe that the alternator is going out because once it gets to 800 RPM's there is no flicker. Thanks for all the help.

Your idle sounds about right (actually it sounds kind of high, although Im not really sure what the idle on the new F150s is). My truck idled around 600 RPMs (in drive) before the XCal2, now it idles around 700 RPMs with the tuner.

Your flickering is not the fault of a low idle speed (will upping the idle speed fix it? yes but that is only covering the problem...something else is wrong).

Your truck is still under warranty...the dealership should fix it.
