Engine light

Engine light

well on friday my engine light came on, and i did not have to go that much more so i did not worrie.....then i drove it back home on sunday and it was still on....buty then yesterday i stated it up and it did not come on....so should i worrie about it...i have never had it just shut off on it's own befor....so any help would be great THANKS

Go get your codes read.

Without them no one can do anything except guess.

Did this happen between fueling ?

It could be a loose gas cap setting the code ( the SES was also used for the gas cap indicator, I think '03 is when they added the gas cap light on the instrument panel ).

Then again, it very well could be something else, without the actual code, no way to know.

no, i was low on gas when it came on, then i whent and put $20 in it....

Mine came on for about a month when I first got my truck. Then it went back off. I drove it for 2 years before I had anything done to the truck, and I never found out what it was about.

well yeah i never really worry about it...but the last time it was on i blew a spark plug...

You would know if you blew a spark plug.

Yes, you can still get the codes read, they are stored in the PCM.

oo trust me i knew i blew my plug, but the engene light was on for a wile befor it blew....and so the light came on ...and i did not know if it was geting ready to blow another one.....


but also the day befor it came on i cleaned my k&n ...and did not drive it tell the day the light came on.....could that have something to do with it? thanks

It's your truck, but I'd take that K&N out if I were you. Go to autozone, or advance and get them to read your codes. It will tell you what's wrong.
