Is this ticking normal?
I remember asking the dealer that same question over 20 years ago when I picked up my new 1985 Toyota.
He said it was normal, I guess he was right.
I drove it 14 years and put 165k on it.
I sold it to a guy 7 years ago when I bought this truck.
He still has it, 265k.
When it stops ticking it will be dead.

You may want to check the spark plugs to rule them out. I was reading one of the threads on blown spark plugs and the guy said that what he thought was an exhaust leak turned out to be a loose plug that blew out. Better safe than sorry!
