werid sound...from 2000 F150

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if you head any advance on this problem I am having with my 150. Here is a discription on the problem I am having and what the mechanic found. If you have any advance of what this could be it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance-AJS

Hi listeners,
I am new to this site and would appreciate any advice anyone is willing to give. I have been hearing a werid noise sounding like it is coming from the back of my truck, kind of a squeeling clicking nosie. Most of the time it is when I lightly touch the accelerator, and going at a reletivly slow speed. Then yesterday I was on the highway going 60mph or 70mph and I heard it but louder. I have dual exhaust so maybe it is making that noise all the time I just can not hear it when the muffler kicks in. I was thinking the fuel pump is making the nosie, cause aren't those in the fuel tank nowadays.
If anyone could reply on there thoughts I would appreciate it very much. I am going to get it diagnoised but would like to have some ideas. Thanks alot-AJS

The mechanic said he took off the drive shaft and looked at the u-joint. He said it was fine. Also when I am going in reverse I don't hear the high pitched squeaking noise. This noise is really bugging me. could it be the fan or belt or something like that... I think it is coming from the rear but maybe not. Thanks for the advance-AJS

or could be the axle sliding on the leaf springs. try tightening the u-bolts and make sure that the round plastic insulators are still on the ends of the leafs.

A friend of mine's truck was making a squeaking noise from the rear, and it turned out that the diff. gears were striking too hard. He said that the dealership fixed them under warranty and he hasn't had any problems since. His truck is an f-250 though.
