Never Getting Ford Truck again!

I have a 2000 f150xlt 4x4 v8, been having problems since I got the truck,

1.) 2 coils went out #4 and #6 @ 7400mi
2.) Swaybar link Broke @ 7800mi
3.) coil went out #4 again @ 8100mi
4.) Cylinder head gasket caused oil leak $1450.00 to fix at shop 88,000mi
5.) Tie rods inner replace $390.00 to fix at shop 88,000mi
6.) replace outer tie rods @ 73,000mi ( wonder why they didnt replace inner tie rods)
7.) realign steering wheel 4th times @ 74,000mi and still not straight to this day.

All this was done at a Ford Dealer.

I'm never going to any Ford dealers again. They are scammers. Thats why they are downsizing because thier vehicle couldnt hold together.

This was all within from 58000mi to 89000mi and still making payments on it. And my drive train extend warranty didnt cover anything above.

before this I had a 86 honda accord and from 72,000mi to 188,000, the only thing i replaced are the brake pads and muffer. Its true, imports is #1.

Whats next?

Absolutely. Did you bye the truck thinking that it would compare in any way to your former Honda? It does sound like you had some extreme issues with the truck, but if your warranty doesn't cover it find a different mechanic. Dealerships are always more expensive, and, in my experience, not nearly as honest. Don't write off these trucks because of what appears to be an obvious lemon. Good luck with your next vehicle.

Sounds like typical things that go along with owning an automobile.... 2000 model year was notorious for the head gasket leak.

Some cars go forever without needed anything done to them. Others need constant maintenance and replacing of parts....

Considering the millions of Ford products on the road in addition to everyother make and model, there is not a single car maker that makes 100% perfect vehicles.....

Luck of the draw on any of them. You reach into the barrel and either grab a good apple or you get the one with the worm..... Does that mean ALL apples are bad?? No....

But you are the one paying the bills, so you can do whatever you like! Not everyone likes Fords, and if this one left a bad taste in your mouth, then move on..... Chances are anything else you get will requires some sort of repair as well, but then every apple barrel has a worm or two in it as well!

Good luck!

Mitch

It isn't like the others out there are "better". Each brand has it's own issues.

I bought a 2001 Supercrew 5.4L with 74,000 miles. It currently has 94,000 miles and I have not had to replace anything. To my knowledge, the previous owner did not have any major problems. It is not every truck, you just got unlucky on yours.

Haha, get a ridgeline... Just dont try to haul anything heavier than a peice of balsa wood. Oh, and forget about taking it on anything more extreme than a gravel road.

For what?

3 coils go out, and a sway bar link in the first 10k.

After that, not a single problem until 88k.

That's 78k (or more) of trouble free driving.

The tie rod problem doesn't count, because they normally wear out. That's a part that has to be serviced, sooner or later.

Some people just like to bitch......they aren't happy unless they're crying about something.

You cant lemon a car for just anything...it takes alot more than stuff like this for lemon law to take effect.

I suspect they would consider most of this normal wear and general maintenance. Not a lemon.
