whats the redline?

The other day i was with my friend in his dads caddilac. He punched it to show me the power it had and i notied the tach went all the way up to 6800 rpms the tach tops out at 7000. I dont remember the exact redline but i noticed that it was for sure in the red zone.

My 94 f150 5.8 E4OD has a tach of course, but i never noticed it doesnt have the redline marked on it. Do any of you know what the redline is on my engine??

Thanks in advance.

I'm not exactly sure but its around 6000rpm. there is no need to rev it that high though, you wont gain anything.

its a small block design short stoke so it will handle more RPM's it is also DOHC not pushrods. so therefore it will handle the RPM

HI!... The modular 4.6/5.4 IN THE TRUCKS redline at about 5400RPM. After that your not making any power. My built 5.4 with aftermarket cams revs up to 6850 without even trying. Your older 302 probably redlines somewhere bewteen 4500-4800RPM.

Just a friendly reminder he has the 351 not the 302.

I have the 5.8L, the power definitely drops off a cliff at around 3500-4000, unless I'm really standing on it, it shifts around 3000-3500, 2000-25000 normal driving.

His 5.8 will handle in excess of 7000rpm:
