I have an 02 with a 5.4 and when it is cold, I start it up and I get a chatter noise from the engine compartment. Has anybody experienced this, or does anbody have an idea of what could be wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

 

I have a 99 Expy w/5.4L engine. Mine usually sounds something like a diesel when the engine is cold. I suppose it has something to do with the oil being cold and thick.
