Did my O2 sensors (4ea) on my 1997 5.4 F150 several months ago. My advise is to get several types of O2 sensor sockets. The right forward sensor was in a real tight position to remove and if you can R & R that O2 sensor the rest of the will be a cake walk. Both of the rear O2 sensors I had to heat the bungs cherry red and the let them cool down to remove. Also remove them when cold but heat them up first and as they are cooling down spray with PB Blaster. As it's cooling down the PB Blaster will be sucked into the threads helping to remove them. Take your time and make sure you have good socket alignment. You don't want to round off the edges or you will being using ViseGrips to get them out. They are in there tight and over time with constantly being heated up and cooled down.

Sorry, have have not taken the pics of the u-joints.

You can remove the front tires to get to the front O2 sensors. There is a bit more area to play with by going through the fenderwells. Rear are easy to remove.

Sensors made easy

remove the front tires and plastic inner fenders. The inner fenders take about 3-5 minutes each to remove.

It is then very easy to unplug the connectors and remove the sensors with a 22mm box end wrench. I did not need to use any rust/penetrating oil.

I've heard that the fronts are critical for performance, milage, and drivability, and that the backs are not as important. I suggest replacing the fronts only, unless you get a code. LOL
