I would highly recommend you find a mechanic that you trust who does not work at a dealership, or a knowledgeable friend to have a look and see what needs doing before you actually have any work done.
Personally, I go to the Dealship for the regularly scheduled maintenance intervals that my booklet calls for. However, I do not allow any fixes or repairs unless its truely needed and if it is needed, I bring it to another garage where I know the mechanics and can trust them, and get a lower labor rate. Basically I just use the Dealership for the standard stuff, oil changes, filter changes, etc. Any major work that needs to be done I go elsewhere.
