need tips on improving gas milage

I just got my F150 with the 5.4 this Tuesday and I was kinda wondering how I can increase the gas milage. Will getting a new fuel filter and new spark plugs make a difference?

perform all routine maintenance to get truck in good running condition.
Get rid of as much weight as you can. Junk in the bed etc.
Drive slow and steady not like you stole it.
keep tires aired up to the correct pressure.
