Quick Question: What is the idle speed for a 97 F-150 w/ 4.6 L V-8?

Thanks

Matt

This has been my experience:

Cold start about 1250.
Drops to about 1100 after a few seconds.
Drops to about 750 after maybe 15 seconds.
About 750 out of gear.(Park)
Should drop about 100 under load (Drive)

The reason I ask, is because I installed a new battery today, and in driving back to work, I stalled out when I came to a stop. By the time I got to the parking lot at work, just sitting in the parking lot, it would idle at 600 or so. When I put it into gear to pull in a spot, the idle would drop to between 0 & 100, then back to 600ish.

My first impression would be that my torque convert might be going bad, or maybe some type of computer error. I would assume computer error, because of the new battery. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Matt

Sounds like your ECU is re-learning everything. Drive it solid for 30 mins. to an hour and see if it's still doing it. If you weren't having the problem before you changed the battery you shouldn't have the problem after changing it.
