I have an 03' F150 5.4 with the 3.55 rear end. I am turning 1700 RPM at 60 MPH when towing my #5500 30' travel trailer. It sounds like you need to reduce your ring & pinion size. Bob
I've got an '06 F150 XLT supercab with a 5.4 and 3.55 gears w/overdrive....I can cruise at 70mph @just under 2000rpms... I find, if I can keep it under 2000rpms, I can get from 18.5-20mpg on the highway...
2007 xlt screw 5.4 l 3.55 gears w/od, 20" rims w/stock Pirellis. The sweet spot seems to 1750 rpms at 65 mph. RPMs holds steady at slight incline or decline.
