97 Mercury Sable tune up
Girlfriends car.
I changed the plugs yesterday. 195,000 miles and still the original plugs.. WOW! Wish I had a camers handy to show the pics of them.. Suprised they even made a spark still.... The electrode was almost completly gone!
Anyways, I'm gonna ask some "dumb" questions here.
Im gonna change the plug wires and o2 sensors soon too, along with a new fuel filter....
What else do I need to do change that's easy?
Im not a mechanic by any means, but im pretty decent with a wrench.
Whats the part that all the plug wires plugs into? Distributor Cap? Do fuel injection engines have distributor caps?
What else needs to be changed?
Thermostat? Is that easy to change? And How?

It is a 2V or 4V engine? Either one has a coil pack for that year model. Consider cleaning the EGR ports as well while you're in there. Thermostats, if it's a 2V motor, no problem, if it's a 4V, it sucks, it's mounted in a housing that runs vertically behind the A/C compressor on the frontside of the engine.
