not sure if it is the same on the 2001 as on the 2005, but my fuel filter is next to the frame under the driver's door. It requires a special tool to remove it, which I purchased at AutoZone for less than $10. Do a Search on the subject of fuel filter and you should find a lot to read on doing that chore. Good luck.

Very easy to do. The filter should be located on the drivers side frame rail near the gas tank. Pull the filter from the holder and make sure to depressureize the fuel system before removing the fuel lines. Take off the fuel lines using the special tool that can be found at almost any autoparts store. Attach fuel lines to new filter and replace on frame rail.
