P0325 - knock sensor

Hello all. First off, I would like to introduce myself and tell you how happy I am to have found this forum. I have a 98 4.6 expy, and ran a diagnostics and got a P0325 knock sensor 1 circuit error (bank 1/1 sensor). I purchased my truck 3 weeks ago, and it seems to run fine except that I don’t get any heat out of my heater at all. Could the 2 be related? And is the knock sensor something I can fix myself?
Any suggestions and/or if anyone could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it

Thanks in advance, Iden

First of all the knock sensor will have no affect on the heat of the engine. by no heat do you mean from the heater or on the guage or both. The knock sensor is located on the block under the intake manifold to access it you must remove the intake manifold, but the sensor itself may not be the cause it may be a wiring issue or it could be a computer issue. I would check the wiring and conectors if you have an ohm meter I would check the circuit the waires are darkgreen/violit and yellow/red there is a conector at the rear of the engine on the passenger side you could have a shorted or brocken wire I would trace the wire i believe it comesw out from under the intake around and behind the alternator.

Thank you for the reply, now I know where to start diagnosing the situation. As far as the heat, it’s the hot air from the HVAC.

As far a s the heat problem I would begin by checking the temp blend door, they are known for problems, check to see if the door itself is not brocken. you can do a search on the forums for a lot of info on the heat subject.

Thanks again Chucks bp. Yeah, I have seen plenty of "no heat" related threads so I think I will be ok with that. Now just the pesky knock sensor I have to deal with.
