Timing Belt, chain, or whatever...
O.K., I'm thoroughly confused
. While going through some old paperwork for my 2000 F-150 w/ a 4.6L V8 Triton engine, the dealership literature mentions changing the timing belt. I thought these engines used chains. A search of this forum seems to confirm my opinion, however, I also found posts about timing belts. I just want to make sure I stay on top of this in case the belt needs to be changed. So which is it?
I'm rather embarassed to say I don't know what I'm looking at on the engine. I can do the routing maintenance and minor repairs, but when it comes to vehicles, I'm what you call mechanically inclined, not automotively inclined. (But I'm willing and eager to learn)
