Quintin, i dont know if you read that link to the post that MDG made, but take a look at it and maybe you can help me out...

 

I just looked over it, here's my take: I dunno what exactly you're hearing. Some noise on cold start up is normal. FWIW, my '04 5.4 3V and my mom's '05 are quiet on start up, so I'd wager that yours is pretty far from normal. I've read about some problems regarding lifters and galled cams in some 5.4 3Vs with valvetrain noise, but I'm not sure of the particulars. Lemme do some checking around, bare with me.

 

quintin, thanks alot man. if you would like to, you can email me with what you find out or just post for others to read. either way works for me. i just dont wanna hear this anymore... im tryin to get a sound clip of it because my dealer either doesnt hear it or they're tryin to brush it off as 'normal'... which i doubt.
