Howling noise

My 1999 F150 5.4 has a howling noise at 1600 to 1800 RPM. It is audible in the cab, not under the hood. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Check the air intake hose where it clamps onto the throttle body. Mine had come of just a little bit and it was sucking in air and making a noise similar to the one you describe.
