Ok i need help. Over the weekend i developed a ticking( ignition noise) on my 1 year old great stereo system. Very pronounced at idle goes away some after warmup and slows and gets fasterwith throttle. Hers whats happened, coil went bad 4 weeks ago, so i replaced coil along with bosch premium wires. Everything was fine till this weekend went it all went to crap. Plugs areess than 3 months old. I took a spare coil wire and went from plug to coil with that wire on each to rule out the wires. Has any one had any trouble with the new coilpacks that are out. Autozone where i bought all of the stuff says to change plugs again. Any one got any suggestions?

What you're hearing is over the stereo is commonly known as "alternator whine". It's just AC ripple on your 12 VDC bus line.
Typically, this is caused by an improperly grounded stereo or your battery may be going bad (possibly low fluid level in the battery). The alternator, rectifier/voltage regulator, wiper moter, turn signal or fan motor may be bad.
Of course, I always start with any new component put on the truck. Probably the new coil pack is the problem. I haven't seen plugs cause this problem. Push comes to shove, you can always buy a source noise filter or alternator noise filter for $10 to eliminate the AC ripple.

Thanks, Mickey shores who installed the system just spent 2 hrs checking eveything going as far as installing new radio, harness,new ground and new power source and even a filter and couldn't get rid of it. They are interested in hereing what i found because like i said they tried everything with me standing there helping them. Like i described the system has been in for a year and has worked great. changed only a couple of things. Installed electric fan 1 mth ago. Battery is old as of 9-2003. Alternator is original. Truck is a 4.2v6 1998 model.
