rough idle,smoke??
Rough Idle, Smoke, Help!! Hi guys I'm new to this site. Well I got a question for anyone out there who can help me out. I have a 1996 F-150 with a 5.0 302EFI. Its been my project. I have lowered it, put some Boss wheels on it and finishing up on the body. Here lately I have had many trouble codes pop up because of the smog pump on the bottom of the motor. Finally I guy from Ford told me that I could take the pump off since I didn't have cat converters. I took the smog pump off and got a new belt. I have never had major engine problems and the truck really runs great. However now I have a really rough idle and alot of smoke coming out the exhaust. Keep in mind it has never smoked before and always had proper maintenance. I need to know if there is something that I need to adjust since the smog pump has been removed to compensate. It seems to have something to do with the air intake. We unplugged the maf sensor and it regulated out for a while but plugged back in it starts to loaf as if it has a cam and begins to smoke after idling for a few minutes. Someone please give me a little more info about Fords legendary emissions system and how I can get it back running right without all of that smog stuff. Any help guys. Thanks alot
Aaron
