Air Intake Valve ?????

Hello there,
i have a problem I hope you can help me with. I went to a ford dealership today to get my truck checked out by the computer because the stationary rpm's are always above 1200 rpm.
The guy who checked out the truck told me the 'air intake valve' is broken and needs to be replaced.
Well, I can't find the wright parts name or number to order it. A drawing of an engine (blow-up schematic of the engine with some arows to the part with name tags...) would help we a lot to identify the part I need.
I you stand in front of the engine, the part is lokated behind the block just after the plastic hood where 5.4 TRITON is writen on. The valve regulates the rpm (air mixture). I DON'T KNOW THE WRIGHT NAME FOR IT.
It doesn't react like it has to on the computer. The RPM's will not go down.

I have been surfing the net now for a few weeks. Can anyone recommend me a Cd or a book (Chilton?) to help me find my way in my truck? (and where woul I order it?)

Is there someone who can help me?

Thanks a lot
Bart

Run a search on IAC, its the same thing. You will find pics of it on a 4.6 and possibly some on a 5.4.

Just noticed yours is a 5.4. Its on the back side of the plenum (intake elbow under the plastic "5.4" cover). It is held on by 2 10mm bolts and has a plug on one end. You can pull it and replace it.

It is called "Idle Air Control Valve". Sometimes manufacturers call it by different names but any parts store will know what you are asking for if you use that terminology.
