Yep we had a meeting and presentation on it the other day at work. It really is supposed to be an awesome vehicle. My only concern is....uh...292 HP in an Explorer....people will be getting to the site of the rollover much sooner now!

If the 4.6 is getting 292HP they better be making the 5.4 with at least 350HP.

Wow, my wifes current '04 Explorer with the 4.0 would give my 4.6 a run for its money (if not beat it), the 3-valve 292 hp would blow my doors off.

Unfortunately for the f-150 in 06, no 4.6 3v, no diesel, and no 5 or 6 speed auto. I do not think Ford is doing the right thing with the F-150 right now. Letting too much slide. I also agree if you have a 292 hp 4.6 the 5.4 should be bumped to 340 or 350.

The one thing I would like to see Ford do with these trucks Is what GM and Dodge are doing. Start putting in the system that disables cylinders at cruising speeds to improve mileage. Ford has to start thinking about that stuff to keep the F150 on top.

More power, better fuel economy. The available 4.6 liter 3V V8 is not only more powerful than last year's V8, it's also more efficient. It delivers an incredible 292 horsepower and 300 lb. ft. of torque while improving fuel economy over last year's V8.*

I agree, I'd love to see that system put in our trucks.

Believe the one in the GT right now is 300hp.

I'm going to be upset if they start putting 5 speed or 6 speed auto trannys in the new F-150s though... I better be able to buy one and easily bolt it into my truck because I still think the new f150s should have come w/ the 5 speed tranny from the start.

AGREED!!! Many times over. 5 or 6 speed in the F150 would have made a world of difference.

ford had that technology in 1999 my dad went to school on it to learn about it when he was learning about the new PI engines he got to see it on the test bed. but ford and dodge are pretty close as in they share alot of ideas... ford let dodge test it out in their trucks first and dodge had their problems with it.. the major downside to shutting off the cylnders while cruising is that those cylnders that sto[ having fuel put to them will dry out and it will deteriorate the valve and will have problems with breaking... but the ford Test bed engine that been around a while uses no cam shafts or lifters. its all electronic controled valves but the electronics on the headers to control the valves is a big loud. and is still in testing. no clue when its going to be released. but that whole shut off cylnders is not good for the motors... and is nothing new
