00 f-150 wont start...need help.

Our 2000 truck wont start. The theft is engaged and wont allow it to start. And no nobody tried breaking into it either. Just got in in and it must not recognize the key. so its at ford and they dont know what it is either. Maybe some ring in the ignition is their guess. Or the whole computer possibly. Any other ideas?

We Had An Extra Key For our 2000 Ford Truck made at Wal-Mart. And Tried Starting it. And it wouldn't do it. It would open the door, try to crank. But would never turn over. The dealer said if we kept doing it. The theft device would turn on. And would not start.

Don't know if this would work, but try disconnecting the battery, then hooking it back up. ( Reseting the computer ) And try to start it.

Make sure you have a key that will work with your Trucks computer system.

( We Had to Get ours Made at the Dealer for $50 )

Hope any of this helps....

( If we kept trying to use the walmart key for too long, and then went back to our stock key. It still wouldn't work. )

We disconnected the battery cables for a while, used the spare key and nothing. It just was sitting outside over the weekend and when we got in it for work monday she wouldnt fire. Doors were unlocked the whole time with the keys in it too. Find out tomorrow what might be the problem.

Pissses us off that dad bought the extended warrenty and it wont be covered. Nor will the ABS problem it has and cracked manifold. what bullsh*t.

Yea those new fangled computer chipped keys keep the truck from starting by some douche bag trying to steal the truck. You can get the computer keys off eBay a lot cheaper than the dealership and have them cut and programmed.

I know with GM's when that happens you have to turn the key to the forward position (one position away from start) and wait 15 minutes until the anti theft light goes off. That is the ONLY way to get it to start. This may be what needs done on a Ford too, I am not sure though. It might be worth a try...

Good luck,

Brian

Well, if Ford can't figure out how to reset their own system, then it's probably FUBAR!! I'm sorry, I know I'm being an a$$ and not helping you at all with your issue..... (I also watched Saving Private Ryan on DVD, so that's what made me come up with that...)

As to the comment regarding the "extended warranty".... Well, they are usually not an actual 'extension' of the original factory warranty. Mostly, just a way to make some more money.... They usually only cover total failures of a part. So, if you blow an engine or tranny, they 'might' cover it..... They will find any little detail to deny coverage as well... If your engine did blow, they would probably ask for records regarding oil changes and such... If you do your own oil changes and don't save the receipts.... SOL......

I laughed at the guy when they offered me the 'extended warranty' for my travel trailer! It would have cost me about 12% of the total cost of the trailer! When I asked what it would actually 'cover', they said that it would replace any failed appliance.... Nothing about damage from leaks, cracks in the fiberglass or frame issues.... (I'm a year out of factory warranty, and all is well with the trailer! knock on wood!!)

Anyway, I'll bet a real car theif would be able to start it up!! ha, ha..... Oh, there I go again being an a$$...

Mitch

Its ok they got it running. It was the key ring or something inside the ignition. Just might have gotten hot and didnt recongnize the keys. All is well again.
