Truck dies for no apparent reason.

My 2004 F-150 kind of hesitates then goes or it just dies out completely. I have taken it to the Ford dealership they ran tests and everything came up negative. Warranty almost up really need help.

Take it back and tell them to reprogram the PCM. It has been covered here in the 2004-2005 threads a thousand times. They have to fix it.....

My 2000 does the exact same thing. What's up? Did my PCM go bad?

Crank Position Sensor will cause this also. Sometimes it will run rough just before it dies but usually the truck dies just as if you turned off the key. Let it set anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hrs depending on how bad it is and it will start right up. The CPS can often go bad and not throw a code. This problem is often fixed by ruling out the other possibilities then putting a new CPS in which will turn out to solve the problem. Good luck.

Well with my truck (and it sounds like WIZRD's is doing the same thing) there are no computer codes and it will do one of 2 thing: hesitate, but still go and be fine or; quit with no warning (like you turned off the key). The truck will start right back up... no waiting any amount of time. After started, it takes off like nothing ever happened. Usually does it about once a day. I was told IAC (cleaned mine) and/or fuel filter (changed) and/or fuel pump. I don't think it's the computer and it's got to be something that the computer doesn't "keep and eye on."
