GM 6.0 vs. Ford 5.4
My sister's boyfriend owns a Chevy Silverado 2500 4x4 light duty with the 6.0. Tonight he and I raced red light to redlight (several times) through our home town and I spanked him every time (I have a 2000 F-150 4x4 with the 5.4). My question is what is the difference in the two motors and/or the drive train that would give me an edge. I even beat him giving him a full truck length head start. I do understand that the 2500 is probably a little heavier truck but I have heard many people talk about how the 6.0 is a hoss. My truck is slightly modified with a tuner but the 2500 is also moded with a jet tuner. So what is the difference in these motors.
When it comes down to it maybe it really doesn't matter but I was impressed that my 5.4 was kicking **** tonight !!!
Any feed back would be appreciated.

Tpipe, I'm not sure but it seems like I heard somewhere that the 04-05 F-150's have an electronic acceleration sensor instead of the old linkage. I know alot of the new fords and lincoln's have this and many people say that this causes their "off the line" response to suck. Maybe that is your issue and you should just trade your new truck for a low miles older truck

The GM 6 liter is a good engine as is the Ford 5.4. Their HP/torque curves are very comparable and both take advantage of todays technology. That being said....I'm GLAD you kicked his butt
Tpipe,
I understand exactly what your talking about. There is a solution!! Call Mike Troyer and purchase the Xcal 2 and your troubles will be gone.

Yes, the chevys with the 6.0 are not fast off the line. You are able to beat trucks with the 6.0 because they have the 4L80E and it has a 1st gear ratio of 2.48:1. The 4L60E in the 1500 chevy trucks has a 1st gear of 3.50:1 or so, I think the Allison in Duramax and the 8.1 has a 1st gear someplace in the 3.50:1 as well. A good test for your two trucks would be from say 30-something faster.
