Question squeal

when i put the accelerator pedal to the floor to pass another vehicle or from a dead start my truck runs great. the problem i,am having is that when the transmission comes back out of the lower gear to the higher gear there is a sqeal from the front of the truck.the sound goes away as soon as the transmission changes gears. it sounds like the fan belt slipping, i,ve changed the belt and it still makes the noise. should i change the belt tensioner or is there another problem. any help would be appreciated.

thanks

V-belts get changed every 3 years or 36,000 miles
Serp. Belts when they have 6-12 cracks per inch of belt in the ribs.

Use a mechanic's stethescope and listen to all the bearings for noise. You may just have a bearing getting ready to go out. Listen to your PS pump, Alternator, front and back, water pump, idler pulley, etc. They will all make noise, but if one is bad, it will definately have a rough noise to it. A whirring noise from the PS pump is normal. A crunchy noise is bad. Most will sound smooth and regular.

If a belt is not tensioned correctly it can slip and squeal too.

hope this helps......good luck
