engine code 0402

98 F150 4.6 Had code 0402 (excessive erg flow) and replaced EGR valve. Reset computer & code reappeared 2 days later. Could the problem be the EGR pressure feedback sensor? Any suggestions are appreciated.

DPFE is the most likely cause for codes P0401 and P0402

code 0402

Thanks,

Can that part be tested (ie correct voltage, etc) or is replacement the only way to isolate that as the problem.

the part can be tested but generally only with a scan tool with access to PID data, or the PCM's input and output voltages. It would be safe to say that the DPFE is the problem though. This is the cause 95% of the time these codes appear in Fords

replace the DPFE. I had the same code on my '01 4.6. Replaced the DPFE (about $30 at the dealer) and code never came back.
