synthetic oil
I agree...
Hi.
Yes, I agree with Tater - and might I add it's appreciated when LabNerd steps in to give a reality check to an 'oils' thread when they *inevitably* get out of hand. Happens every time a new thread on this topic is started.
Some day, all the ignorance, bias, mis-information and plain old B.S will fade away - in the meantime we have LabNerd !
Having said all that, what is far more of an issue is the viscosity ratings one should use in a Modular motor. Aside from the corporate fuel ecomony shell game ( which results in 5w-20 specs ), some experts - Mike Troyer included- seem to favour the use of much heavier oils ( e.g. 10w-30 ) in a close-tolerance engine - - a Late-model Cobra engine for example. I think the clearances in a Triton are comparable. Any thoughts on this?
Viscosity is another one of those magical specs few really know the facts about - a lot of B.S opinions, but few real facts. I guess I'm asking LabNerd for some more input here...
And Please keep it on the lighter side, or I'll sic Max Mitchell on ya ;-))
Thanks again.
Cheers
Vic
