truck died on road

I was driving back home from work and stopped at a red light. All of a sudden the truck just died on me. I turned it back on and and it turned off after a couple of seconds. I turned it on again and kept pressing the gas pedal while braking when i had to stop because I feared it would turn off again . it is a 97 f150 4WD with a 5.4 engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the electrical okay? Is the truck just stalling? Did it run rough? Can you give a few more symptoms?

The electrical system is all okay. It doesn't stall it is just that it would turn off if i stopped at a red light for more than 1 minute. On the way home it ran smooth didn't vibrate or anything. The service engine light didn't even come on. there aren't any other symptoms I could describe. It's the first time this has happened.

In reply to zapster it has been raining a lot where I live. Maybe that is the cause.
