1987 F150 302 EFI Fuel Pump Failures

Hi,
I seem to be having a rash of fuel pump failures (high pressure pump on frame rails) I have replaced the pump 3 times in 4 years with the most recent one only lasting 6 months. I have also replaced the inline filter as well. Has anyone heard of this problem or is it something unique with my truck?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Why are you replacing the frame pump? How many fuel tanks? Your truck is equipped with multiple fuel pumps. There is the one on the frame which you have replaced, and may not be the cause of your problem, and also each fuel tank is equipped with a low pressure fuel pump to supply fuel from the tank to the pump. The frame pump is not designed to "pull" fuel from the tank. Therefore, they have a pump inside each tank. Typical problems are--Idles fine, but when you step on it, it is starving for fuel.
