overheating problem

i was out wheelin the other day, and my engine started to overheat. i am going to try spraying the dirt off the radiator, but if that doesn't work then what? a couple of guys told me switching to an electric fan versus an engine driven fan will help not only in cooling, but in horsepower and torque....should i do this...pros and cons???? if not then i have to cut out some of the bottom tray on the radiator because with my two inch body lift, the fan hits the tray when the engine shifts when i rev it. just wondering if this is wise or unwise.

thanks for the info again.

Be sure to add a trans cooler and keep the trans from getting caked in mud. It'll fry in a heartbeat if it gets coated in heat retaining muck.

Adding aftermarket items won't help if you don't diagnose and fix the original problem first. Overheating is not a typical problem on these trucks. So there must be a problem with your truck causing your overheating. Start with cleaning the radiator fins. Then flush and fill the coolant if you haven't done so in the past year.
