5.4L or 4.6L? and from where?

5.4L or 4.6L? and from where?
I have a 1997 4.6L engine that has gone t!ts-up, so I need to replace it or have it rebuilt. I have some questions:
1) Seems like it's nearly as much to have my engine rebuilt as it would be to replace it. Is this true?
Assuming I replace the engine:
2) Would it be a good idea to take this opportunity to step up to the 5.4L? Why or why not?
3) Where would you recommend getting the engine? (I was quoted $4,200 by the Ford dealer for a factory remanufactured 4.6L with a 3-year, 36K mile warranty -- includes parts and service)
