Rear Main Oil Seal

I've got a 1992 FORD F 150 and the rear main started leaking and I was wondering where to change it or not, I know from experiance the older 302'S were notorious for rear mains leaking., and you could change them and they would start leaking again soon after.I was wondering if anyone had any experiance on the newer MPI 302'S., and rear main oil seals.

I see know one has responded to your question. I had my rear seal replaced on trip to SC. rear main was throwing oil I was pulling a small trailer with a motorcycle on it. Things went fine to my desitation. Returning home a month later again pulling trailer with bike. After about 150 miles rear seal began throwing oil. used 8 quarts of oil in 500 miles.
I wonder if something buit up engine pressure to blow out the seal?
If someone responds to your question maybe they help me.

I would inspect to make sure that it is a main seal leak
i have in my experiance seen several oil pan gaskets specificaly the silcone
one peice jobs on the small block fords that have split along the pan rail
unless you check very closely the main seal gets blamed for the leak

When the seal leaks it cut a small grove in the crank. You can put a seal in with a speedy sleeve. This is a small sleeve that slides over the crank and then the seal rides on that.
