Metal on Metal sound in drive, help appreciated!!!

I've got a weird Metal on Metal sound. It sounds like I'm dragging something. It seems to only do it when I'm either going really slow, or accelerating. When it does it when I'm accelerating it goes away when I get over a certain speed. Anyone had any similar situations? Help is appreciated, Thanks.

Zapster, thanks for the reply.

Sorry, I'm talking about my 98 F-150 5.4. I'll check the u-joints and let you know what I find. Thanks again man.

rear end

you might have to check the front and rear pinion bearings ans well as the carrier in th rear diff. my friend had the same sound in hi ram 1500 we changed the u-joints but no change. we pulled the rear end apart and the front pinion bearing was comming apart and the lim slip was tost with the clutch packs destroyed.so park the truck before you ruin the whole rear end. lucky we know how to fix the prob but and its only costing a few hundred for the new bearings and carrier.
