Question Distributor

I have a 1979 Ford 300 inline six that has an electronic ignition type distributor and I would like to replace it with a points type distributor. Does anyone know if this is possible?
Thanks,
Richard MacDonald

Yeah, you can, but why? Fords duraspark II is a fairly reliable ignition system.

Hi;
Thanks for your reply to my question Tailgater.
The reason I want to change distributors is because I'm putting this engine in a 1964 Ford F-100. i think the wiring would be pretty difficult.

I'm lost here. You want to run a points type distributor in a car made for points, right? Where's the difficulty?

Wink Distributor

Hi;
This engine came with a Duraspark 11 distributor. But I don't see any reason why a points type distributor won't work.
Thanks for your reply.

Should be no problem at all. All you need is a distributor and coil from a 300 that had points. The wiring should need no mods whatsoever.
