5w20 vs 10w30
I just got an '03 5.4L Supercrew and see that the recommended oil is 5w20. I've never used that and wondered if that's what everyone is using or is 10w30 still the standard oil.
You will get better mileage with the 5w20(or 5w30, hardly any difference). I would only use the heavier weight it you are towing alot, imho. For info on different oils, go to www.bobistheoilguy.com

yup i'd stick with the 5w20.
I was getting about 420 miles to my tank with 5w20, then i switched to 10w30 for 3,000 miles and ended up getting around 380 per tank, and thats with a light foot.
I switched back to 5w20 2 weeks ago and have gone 412 miles since the last fill up, with about 1/8th left beforfe the low fuel indicator comes on.
I know it's not good to switch up the oil back and forth, but I had to experiment.

Hi
Yes proper oil type and espically the oil filter is important to prevent oil starvation at startup
I have a 02 supercrew 4.6 l 3.55 gears w/ tanneau cover i ll get 450 to 480 miles to a tank of reg unleaded keeping it under 70 mph .. but if u have a heavy foot ill get 380 or so lol ok

Generally, if Ford says something's ok, it is.
