surging

Hi fella's, I realize this is an older truck, hope you don't mind me posting here. The truck is an 95 F-150 4X4, 5.8L w/ 4sp. auto. The problem is that occassionally the idle surges up and down about 2 to 3 hrd RPM. The engine also surges a little under light accelleration. Under moderate to heavy acceleration it's fine. Exept for K&N filter and Magnaflow 3" cat back, it's stock and runs fine otherwise. I have tried to locate the MAF sensor but can't find it anywhere in the intake ducting. Beyond cleaning the sensor element in the MAF, the IAC and throttle body does anyone have any words of wisdom. The check engine light does not come on so I'm guessing there would be no codes. Thanks for any advice you might have.

From: oak harbor, wa / brookings, or
my suggestion is to go ahead an give it the full tune up:
plugs, wires, fuel filter, sea foam the engine, check all your vaccum lines, new air cleaner, etc, etc,... at least this way you'll rule out all the basics. and have some quality time with your truck

course after it's all said and done you could be like me and end up with a better launch off the line, more power pulling the hills, and the same shutter while trying to hold the 45 mph speed limit

i even changed out both coil pacs at my dealers suggestion. wife just said fix it(her truck)
