UPDATE...

So, 330 miles, and 2 bottles of "HEET" later... I finally ran through the tank of the Shell gas. I filled up on Friday, and havn't had a problem since. It's running like new again. The SES code even went away (FYI, I went up to AutoZone before it went away and it said i had a mis-fire on the # 8 cylinder.)

Since others have used Shell V-Power with no problem, I assume i just got some bad fuel. I guess the moral of the story is I'll never get gas from that Shell station again, and I'll stay away from premium.

Thanks for the help.

I use V Power in my Supercharged HD. No problems.
Did you try V Power from a different station?
Like everyone else said, if you don't need 93 Octane, you are just wasting money.

Any chance you just got an awful tank of gas?

I work in the environmental business and have removed more than my share of underground tanks in my day. Further, I've been a grunt that has had to 'suit up' and go INSIDE the thanks to clean out the sludge and such. Obviously, this is NO fun at all...

My point here is that I've seen what resides in the bottoms of some of these tanks and, if the fuel level was low enough, the pump stand pipe could've easily sucked up a bunch of 'gunk' out of the bottom of the thank. Further, if the level was low in the underground tank and they were filling the tanks (or had recently), all of that crap in the bottom of the tanks would've been 'stirred up' and, certainly, would've come in through the dispenser.

I will NEVER stop at a station (and I use Shell gas religiously) when there's a tanker sitting out front... ever.

You'd be amazed at the gunk I've seen in the bottoms of those tanks... yes, there are filtration methods at the dispensers but, as any gas station owner will tell you, they don't mess with them unless theres a problem. The 'filters' (tounge in cheek) will only remove larger stuff from the fuel. As one owner told me, "...that's why vehicles have fuel filters... it's not my problem...I don't make enough on gas as it is to continously upgrade my systems..." .

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a crappy tank of gas. Thinking back, i'm pretty sure it was the same gas station that did it to me before... i just didn't realize it last time.

I just wasn't sure if premium fuel was bad for a stock V-8. Now i know that it's not necessarily bad, but it really won't do anything for you... i'll stick to the cheap 'ol 87 octane from now on.

Yep, and that proves Shell is bad gas.

Please fill up American next time.
