just got a loaded 97 XLT 2wd for 300 dollars with a blown engine (head gaskets leaked then hydrolocked and bent a rod) and I want to throw a used engine in it and drive it/sell it. Any idea where to get an inexpensive one? Remanned engines seem to be super expensive and used ones do too.

Might try ebay. Just make sure the sob works before you buy it, especially if you get a repacement of the same year. As 97's are the ones with the problems.
