What engine do i have?
I wouild love to go to napa but i dont have one around here. Walmart of VIP is my only choice. Probably not going to get anything at walmart. The only choice i have at walmart is standard autolites. Going to check out VIP tonight.
DaFordFreak,
First, there are actually four types of 5.4L engines are coded as follows (using 8th digit in the VIN):
Second, you could order Bosch and Motorcraft plugs from AutoZone online and have them delivered to you.
I've got Bosch +4 plugs in my truck, but let me tell you: installation was a real bear. Getting to the back two plugs (especially the #8 plug, at the driver's side firewall) was extremely difficult. I had to loosen and move my EGR pipe aside and derail my fuel rails to get in there to the bolt holding on the coil pack. Needless to say, I quickly realized why Tuffy wanted $260 labor to replace them. That was before I joined this forum, though. There may be a post on here with easier instructions.
Anyway, good luck.

- "L" for standard SOHC (single overhead cam) EFI (electronic fuel injection) gasoline engine, almost certainly what you have.
- "3" for supercharged SOHC EFI gasoline engine (Lightnings and some years of Harley Davidsons).
- "Z" for bi-fuel vehicles which use gasoline and natural gas or liquified petroleum, very rare.
- "M" for engines fueled by natural gas only, extremely rare.

Thanks for the info. Now i now i have the L model engine. Now i am not so sure i want to change my plugs. Sounds like a nightmare. Probably will just wait until they act up or when my engine turns 100,000 which is another 20,000 away.
