oil leak

I recently switched to synthetic oil and now im noticing leaks around my valve covers. I dont have the time or money right now to change the gaskets. Will changing back to regular oil solve this or im i looking at new gaskets down the road? I know synthetic can cause the seals to leak just wondering if any one has swithced back i dont want to but if it solves the problem for now i will

I had the same problem with my 01 head gasket. After changing back to regular 10w30 the leak is much better. maybe a drop once or twice a week. never a drop until synthetic oil.

Well, what probably has happend is the synthetic oil removed some sludge or crud around the gasket and that allowed the oil to start leaking.... The leak was alrady there, it's just that the dino oil had it plugged up and the synthetic cleared it.....

IMO, changing back to dino now will not stop the leaking right away. I would not go to a thicker oil either.... It might lesson it some, but until it plugs up again, it'll still leak....

I switched to M1 at around 80k miles on my rig.... It's got 139k miles on it now. Was not leaking before, and still not leaking now.... Got lucky I guess.....

Good luck!

Mitch
