96 f150 351 still has trouble starting
I posted this problem a few weeks ago and I still have a problem and it is also doing something else.
First of all this is what happens-it won't start until the fuel pump shuts off, somtimes it takes a few seconds and other times it takes up to ten minutes. It does not matter if the engine is warm or cold, i have had it scanned but nothing comes up. I have replaced the fuel filter, fuel pressure regulater, idle control motor, plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. I have dual tanks and it happens on both tanks. Also checked the pressure and it is 40psi when i initially try to start.
Now its doing something else-sometimes it will start and it runs very rough, like its not running on all cylinders. It does this for a little while and then clears up and runs normal.
I have been told it might be the computer or a relay, any thoughts?
Also once it starts it runs fine. Any suggestions would be great.

Kinda sounds like the pump relay isn't working like it should. I don't know if it would have anything to do with your starting problems. I know in the past I have seen the relay get bad and the pump would run all the time. Replaced the relay and everything would work like it should. They are not high priced to replace and would be a good place to start. It should just cycle and shut it's self off. Hope this helps!!!
