Just tried to change to FL820 Oil Filter on my FX4 5.4L
WOW !!! Did they make a new tool to get to it?
I tried strap wrench Socket made for this Filter
Its in a difficult place Any one handle this successfully yet?

 

The original filter can be a bear to get off since it was put on dry, they tightened it too tight and then painted over it. Let the dealer do the first oil change and let them mess with it. After that it's a bit easier, although the filter is in a difficult spot. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right (or is it left?) to give yourself a little better access.

 

Get one of the ones that look like a short cup and fits over the end of the filter. It is set up for a 3/8" ratchet. That with a 10-12" extension works great. With this set, it is fairly easy.

 

Rocky My 2001 5.4L was located on the side where you had to turn the wheels This 2005 Filter is located in the lower left front so NO turning of wheels required Thnx anyways and YES Im going to Ford dealer tuesday to have oil changed 750 miles on it I change it at 750 1500 then 2500 . After that every 2500-3000 miles for filter and 7 qts of oil.
