My brother owned a 94 f-150 with the 302 and 4 wheel drive. He would get 8 mpg in city driving with that thing. This was during the dead of winter where it gets down to -25F here. The truck was taken care of and had 143,000 on it.

I have a 95 Supercab 4x4 (98,000miles), auto, 302 that was just rebuilt by the dealership before I bought it and the best mileage I have gotten out of it has been 12 mpg. But I really made an effort not to floor it at all. That was on 87 octane. But most of the time I get between 6-8 mpg.

i havent checked the fuel or air filter the guy i bought it from said that it had a k and n air filter and ive head that those arnt good for some trucks, it lets too much air in that could be why. ill just go buy a new air and fuel filter.

i doubt the kn is to blame. might want to check other things.

i have the same problem but i was getting 10mpg. changed fuel filter, have kn intake, changed plugs, wires, pcv valve, ran some sea foam thru it. not much happening.

good luck, let me know if you figure it out.

Hey guy's that sure seems like a lot of fuel going threw. If it took much more I guy should be able to just float it instead of drive it HA!!! This isn't funny the way the gas prices are these days. I had a 93 f150 with a 5.0 and the gas regulator went bad. It not only drank a lot of gas it also put it in the crank case. This is not good. Awful hard on rods and mains if it's not repaired real fast. The only thing is that when my regulator went bad the check engine light came on. Just something to think about and watch for. My 96 150 4+4 got around 15 mpg when I checked it today. It has a 5.0 and I install the 1715 form Troyer Performance a couple of weeks ago. The only thing is I didn't check it before I retuned. When I go back to stock tuning sometime I will check it. Lots of luck and Keep On TRUCKING!!!!

I run a 97 E 350 5.4 triton and I get 9 mpg with a tailwind.
Into the wind I get about 7.
I would still rather push a Ford than drive a chevy.
Fords can handle the largest payload you can put on four wheels.
If a fellow put on a chevy what I put on this Van it would blow the tranny our rearend or the dam tires.
Chevy fans make me puke!
I like Jeff Gordon but I hate his car.( I hate pepsi too stuff taste like flat RC)
I hate Busch but I like his car.
Matt Kenseth evens things out.

6 mpg

one time i stopped along the road a guy with a truck like yours that was broken down, this truck had these big monster tires, with a load of junk in the bed, i helped him, figured out we wasnt getting any gas, but he told me his gas guage didnt work, and he just filled up with gas yesterday, he can't be outta gas, i traveled to the next gas station got him a gallon and poured it in, and she started right up, I explained to him, running those giant monster tires, with a load in the bed, and its cold outside, and using that cheap motor oil will give you bad gas mileage.

Now you see, if he'd have been using Amsoil, he would've been getting at least 90mpg.
