Question - need help!!

I am looking to buy another Ford and have questions that might sound elementary to some of you.

I was looking at a 99 F150 single cab, triton V8 with 96,000 miles, cruise, tilt, the guy is firm on $4500 - which seems like a decent price, etc It seems like a good truck, normal wear, scratches, dings, etc

(I hope I'm not bending the sites rules here by asking - but what do you guys think?)

also;
What is the advantages of the Triton engine.
Is 13 or 14 mpg in town and 15 or 16 hwy normal?

THANKS VERY MUCH on any feedback here, I'm supposed to get back with this guy tommorow.

it actually in my head seems kind of like a low price! find out which v-8 it has 5.4 or 4.6 theres a big differance in power. the mileage you will see is more then likely a little less then what you said. Is it a 4x4? auto? an easy way to check if he has really cleaned the truck nicely is ask to take off the air intake or move the peice by the throttle body... look past the buterfly and if its really black and slimy i would consider looking in to it more. if its nice and clean or a little build up he knows the ropes. i wouldnt base the decision on that alone but i think we here all agree fords have trouble with that and alot of people know to clean it!

gas milage sounds about right. i have all was been told to make sure when you show up to see the truck or car that it has not been running. other then that it sounds like a good. is it tilted and have plates on if so i would suggest that it to a mech that you may know and have him do a quick look at it. good luck.
