Starter ???
I'm new to this forum but everyone here seems to have a good deal of knowledge so I figured I'd post my question. When I tried to start my my truck this morning nothing happened. When I turned the key the engined didn't even try to turn over. No noise whatsoever. Is it the starter? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

My mechanic made a house call tonight and after using his test lights and me turning the key, determined that my ignition switch is sending power to the starter and that the starter/solinoid unit is shot. It looks to be an easy enough fix that I will tackle tomorrow afternoon if I get the chance after work.

I couldn't get the starter bolts out so I brought it to my mechanic. He had a horrible time with the bolts and said I never would have done it in the driveway. Badly corroded stud and ended up craking the starter housing.....so much for the core charge.
It looks like there was a braided cable on the starter solinoid that was burned through. Starts like a champ now!

1st things first. Check the positive line coming down to the starter, its the thick line (red) and check the crappy end piece it tends to become corroded and will not allow a good connection to the starter. Cut it off replace it or replace the entire wire and your troubles will be gone. been there done that. new connection .69 cents. new starter 25???.??.
